MLS Mare GmbH Development of its present direction

 

MLS Mare GmbH has its origins in the establishment of GGP Glatzel GmbH in 1988. Up to that time, the trade with laundry and cleaning machines was a successful branch of Thulesius GmbH & Co, Bremen. Increasing market requirements necessitated sales adjustments, which were better implemented in an independently structured company. Mr. Günter Glatzel and his son Jörn Glatzel established themselves as an independent company in the industry in 1988.

 

In the early 1990s, the business expanded into the maritime sector by reliably handling projects for well-known German shipyards. These shipyards, renowned for their excellent quality, relied on their subcontractors to meet their standards. The GGP team helped to meet the functional requirements of cruise ships and developed holistic solutions for laundry.

 

Over time, the sales department adapted to new challenges, including the development of turnkey solutions and environmentally friendly approaches. The team worked on efficient laundry solutions, advising customers and coordinating the necessary processes for optimum material flow. Hygiene and working conditions also played an important role.

 

In close contact with customers, the need for savings in laundry technology became increasingly apparent. It was established that resources could be saved by centralizing laundry processes. This included a modern water circulation system and the development of environmentally friendly technologies in cooperation with the University of Bremen.

 

In addition to a professional distribution structure, a comprehensive after-sales service was set up to minimize downtime of facilities on board the cruise ships. With the steady development of the cruise market and increasing project volumes, the experience gained led to a reorientation of the company's strategy. After his father's retirement, CEO Jörn Glatzel took over the company and founded MLS Mare GmbH, which now specializes in laundry services and refit consultancy.

 

The strategic direction to secure the company's future must focus on expanding the product range and technological developments in the cruise industry. This is being done by a new partner and CEO Bosse Berg, who took up his position in September 2024 and has since expanded the MLS team with new dedicated employees and modernized the IT infrastructure. New premises, a new look and a new name set the tone for the future. MLS Mare GmbH no longer focuses solely on laundry solutions, but now also offers consultancy and sales of galley, bakery and food waste systems.
